How To Share Your Story

By Darrell Zwicker

What’s on your mind?

Sometimes by asking ourselves a question, it will invite introspection and lead us to greater creativity and insight. So, can’t think of question to start the storytelling – here’s a few to consider:

Who has inspired you? What book came into your life precisely when you needed it the most? Do you have a  favorite passage or quote that you refer to frequently? Where do you want to make a difference?  How do you deal with disappointment? What is your biggest challenge today? And finally, if you could have dinner with only 1 person in the world (dead or alive), who would that person be and why?

Not many rules to play by, only one — don’t be rude. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?  So, what’s on your mind?

And the winner is……

By Zoo Nation

Zoo Nation has been up & running for 2 weeks. One of our early FaceBook postings was to introduce a contest for ideas to embellish their home party experience, which is called a Zoo-apalooza. The contest was simple.Best idea would win $250.00 worth of personalized Zoo Nation apparel and their signature product—the welcome mat.
“We simply didn’t promote it well and long enough to gain traction,” co-founder Darrell Zwicker said.”Other than immediate family, no one else participated,” D.Zwicker said. So instead of awarding the winnings to their own family, Zoo Nation decided to give $250.00 to one of their grassroot partners, Newmarket Communication Education Partnership.
“This is wonderful news,” says Heidi Chase,Board President, “ we can use every penny we can get to help a great cause right here in Newmarket.”

The check will be presented to Heidi this afternoon.

Applause please! We are ready to ship!

By Darrell Zwicker

Good day and welcome to the new Zoo Nation blog where you can find the latest & greatest news that is near and dear to your heart – from marketing and family branding to raising awareness and money for organizations that share our passion in the areas of mental illness, developmental disabilities and youth enrichment. We will give the blog spotlight to as many interesting people as possible, hopefully with only a smidgen of arm-twisting.

We really don’t have a set agenda, which makes this rather fun, and yes even scary.

So bookmark this blog, email to a friend/colleague/ neighbor and let’s start the brand chatter about Zoo Nation together. Without your feedback, it’s all for naught, so we’d love to hear from you on your thoughts, feelings and Zoo Nation opinions… and this blog – and what direction you would like Zoo Nation to embrace.

Until next time neighbors… Be different, make a difference, have fun!

My Story

By Darrell Zwicker

Everyone has a story—and here’s my mine.

Hello my name is Darrell Zwicker. I am chasing the big milestone of 50, happily married with 2 children.

Like  a lot of people, nothing really came easy to me in life. I was a C student at best, a mediocre hockey player, and obsessed with moving on to the next big challenge.

The biggest life-changer for me occurred approximately 20 years ago when I read Scott Peck’s The Road Less Travelled. The first three words of his book, stopped me in my tracks- Life is difficult. Then he went onto say something along the lines of; once you realize life is difficult life becomes not so difficult. Changed my life indeed. I was 30 years old.

By  the  time I was 35 I realized I could control my thoughts, and could with a bit of effort  remove the negative chatter twirling around my brain. And by the time I turned  40 I was learning not to take myself or life too seriously, and in doing so, life became serious…… and fun. When I reached 47 I realized that life was quickly passing by. And life was giving me a nudge to create something more meaningful , something that would make me feel truly alive.

The creation of Zoo Nation is in essence the culmination of life’s events.

Don’t mind me, if I seem too personable by asking the question—what’s on your mind?
